Like I said in my last post, our vacation wasn't as exciting or extravagant as we would have liked, but we had a good time visiting family and friends and babies in Indianapolis and relaxing at Clifty Falls. I used to be an avid journaler, and I still like to write things down and keep track of all that we did...I just do it via blog instead of journal now. So here goes!
Wednesday: Arrived in Indianpolis, had dinner with the Temms and their 10 month old Jaxson at their house, then visited with Daniel's brother and his family. Our niece Mariah had a fun time coming up with a list of names for our baby. Some of my favorites were Giselle (from Enchanted), DayLily (which I suggested shortening to Lily), and Robin (like the bird)...plus a few made up names that I don't remember now. Check back with us in November to see if we choose any names from Mariah's list! =)
Thursday: Spent the afternoon with the Bungards and their 7 month old Ava...we ate lunch at Red Robin, did some shopping, then went to their church and house in Mooresville. Here is a picture of me with Ava at Old Navy. Thursday evening, we hung out with Daniel's parents.
Friday: Met the Skinners and their 5 month old Hunter for lunch at Donatos Pizza. Then we drove to Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, IN. We set up our campsite and cooked dinner. Then we began our Yahtzee/Uno tournament that has become a tradition on our camping trips. We played three games of Yahtzee Friday night...and I won all 3! (Backstory: Daniel played Yahtzee for the first time while camping a few years ago, and he killed me. He got 4 Yahtzees in one game! I was very bitter and determined to beat him this time!) Here's a picture of our campsite (The reclining chairs were worth all the work it took to fit them in our car!) and a picture of Daniel's happy face while enjoying our dinner.
Saturday: We went hiking in the morning looking for the waterfalls in the park...hence the name Clifty FALLS. I think we found some waterfalls, but they were very disappointing with only a trickle of water. And we had the hardest time following the map for the trails. That was SO frustrating to me. I pride myself on being able to read a map. Just ask my friend Lizzie. That's why she was friends with me--because I was good with directions and could follow a map. And Daniel is good with maps too...but neither one of us could make any sense of the trail on this map. We ended up in a totally different spot from where we thought we were. Anyway, here's a picture of us in front of what we think was one of the waterfalls.
OK, this is really going to be long...so I'm going to pause for now and will finish up with the rest of the trip tomorrow. I know you will be waiting in suspense until then!!
